Then we came home. It was great to be home (even though we did miss the 80-degree weather in January) but we missed the DR and really felt we wanted to do more.

Spending the day with Dio really made us see how his organization worked. We knew we wanted to be more involved and do more with Pathway Dominicana, the people of the Dominican and Dio.

Over the summer of 2022 we ran into a pastor from another church that had introduced our church to Dio and was talking to him about how we can help here in the states between visits. After talking to the pastor we all realized that Pathway Dominicana needed to become a 501c3 in the US to be able to receive non-profit status and enable organizations, churches, and individuals to be able to donate and receive a tax deduction. Currently, all donations go through local churches that support Pathway Dominicana.

We worked with the pastor of the church and contacted Dio and we are currently working on creating a board and a 501c3 status here in the U.S. It’s a lot of paperwork, but Dio already had this status in the DR and so much of the work already done. We’re currently working on translating the documents, filling out the massive amount of state and federal paperwork and, working with a local attorney.
